Cleat and Sole T-NutsUpdated 13 hours ago

Bont Cycling cleat and sole pad t-nuts are designed to ‘bite’ into the sole of the shoe when your cleats or pads are affixed.

That said, sometimes the t-nut can spin making it a little difficult to remove if the existing bolts have not been sufficiently greased during installation.

The best way to remove our cleat or sole t-nuts is to either use a pair of circlip pliers from the inside of the shoe (to hold the t-nut in place) or to use a pair of needle nose pliers under the head of the bolt and pull upwards as you unscrew it.

If the bolt and t-nut are completely seized, it may require the head of the bolt to be drilled out. This can be performed at home if you are confident with a drill or Dremel or alternatively visit a local bike store to assist.

Note, cleat t-nuts can be replaced on our Vaypor S, Vaypor+, Helix, Zero+ and Crono models as the t-nuts are visible underneath the innersole. Loose or spinning t-nuts can be glued into the base using a contact adhesive like Gorilla Clear Grip, Loctite Stik'n Seal or equivalent.

New Vaypor and Riot Series

Vaypor SL, Vaypor 2023, Vaypor Lace and Riot shoes require partial removal of the fabric liner to access the cleat nuts covering.

New generation Vaypor S and Zero+ feature slotted hole Cleat Nuts and can be replaced by removing the cleat protector cover from underneath the inner sole.

Care should be taken when removing the plastic protector so not to damage the inner lining of the shoe. The new Cleat Nuts drop into place from the inside of the shoe.

Replacement cleat and sole t-nuts can be purchased through a retailer found by contacting your country distributor or our online store.

The below parts are required for t-nut replacement.

Vaypor S, Vaypor+, Zero+ and Crono MK2 = Cleat T-Nuts Stainless Steel

New generation Vaypor S, Zero+, Vaypor SL, Vaypor BOA, Vaypor Lace and discontinued Helix = Helix Cleat T-Nuts or Titanium Cleat Nuts.
